Gay football teams

Welcome to the gayest league in all of women’s international sports, or so I believe: the super league, alternatively known as the premier league. In other sports (namely, the WNBA and NWSL), I was able to detect double as many confirmed straight people as confirmed homosexual people. That was just not the case here!

This year’s season is already in full swing, but there’s still plenty of moment to choose a favorite team. This list is planned to help you do exactly that. The way football works in the UK is that the top team in the league moves up and the bottom team moves down. Since I’m only watching the highest bracket, you’ll find that the teams accomplish move around a bit from year to year.

As always, if I missed someone or if you feel love someone is incorrectly on this list, let me understand in the comments or send me an email at writethroughthenight @ gmail . com.

That’s club as in nightclub, not football club. You don’t need to be ‘a member’, wear a distinct kit or have any particular skill for bowling. So there are no pre-requisites for attendance.

We were founded in 2017 by newlyweds Marc & Luke — who had just moved to Manchester, and had no concept how to make friends in a new city. They invited the few people they knew to come bowling one Wednesday, and extended the invite to friends-of-friends. The rest, as they say, is history.

In the years since, we’ve expanded our presence to cities across the UK, helped forge hundreds of unused friendships, and proudly represented the UK at international LGBTQ+ ten-pin tournaments across Europe.

It turns out, queer people everywhere need a way of making new friends.

If you’re one of them, we’d love to meet you sometime.

Love and pins,

P.S. Don’t let the name fool you - everyone from across the rainbow is welcome, not just gay men. It was just too good a wordplay to resist.
