Gay Miami – the best gay hotels, bars, clubs & more

There are scant places in the States more iconic than Miami. Miami is where— to use a cliché—North meets South. Latin American culture makes sweet love to that of urban Northern America. It’s glamorous yet inclusive, edgy but approachable. By day, Cadillacs blasting reggaeton cruise along the palm-tree-lined Ocean Drive, with Miami Beach packed of speedo-wearing hunks on one side and rows of Art Deco-style hotels on the other. By night, the streets hum with the sounds of bars and terraces packed with people from all over the world out to have a good time.

Miami is about more than just the beach and nightlife, though: it also has culture and art incorporated into its very bloodstream, evidenced by its superabundance of street art, galleries, and the aforementioned Art Deco buildings.

For decades, Miami has been a hotspot for the LGBTQ+ community, both for locals and visitors alike. But as LGBTQ+ acceptance improves and the next generation becomes a dominant compel in the explore sphere, you might wonder if Miami still holds the allure it once had.

The decreased require for gay-only spaces has created challenges for many L

We quickly realised on our first visit that Miami was welcoming to LGBTQ+ travellers – more on that below – but we were very happy to discover just how gay Miami was.

We have been travelling to Miami every year for the past 6 years – we always find ourselves there when we take our annual Atlantis gay cruise, and we usually only spend a couple of days either side of the cruise – so our previous gay Miami experience was always a little limited.

However, this year we flew out a occupied week prior to the cruise, and so naturally we decided to really explore the entire extent of ‘gay Miami.’

We loved checking out the different queer hotels in Miami, trying modern gay bars, and even seeing what type of activities were on offer for gay travellers to Miami.

Here is everything you might need to know in our Gay Miami travel guide.

Short answer – yes!

Miami has one of the largest and most prominent Diverse communities in the United States, and attracting over 1 million LGBTQ+ visitors each year has become known as somewhat of a gay mecca.

The Miami area has been gay-friendly for years; in fact, it is one of the few plac

Miami Gay Neighborhood Guide

Known for its vibrant city existence, stunning beaches, exciting nightlife, and a blend of cultures, Miami is one of the most sought-after places to live. Since the 1970s, Miami has been a hotspot for the LGBTQ+ community. Over 200,000 LGBT individuals exist in the greater Miami metropolitan area, which is about 4.5% of the total population.

Close to Everglades National Park, the Magic City is renowned for sun, sand, and some of the most gorgeous people in the world!

If you’ve been thinking about moving, Miami might be the place you’re looking for. With several wonderful, gay-friendly communities scattered throughout the city, there’s a Miami neighborhood for homosexual travelers looking for a safe and exciting place to live.

Coconut Grove

The southern region of metro Miami is dominated by this peaceful enclave right on Biscayne Bay. This gorgeous and relaxing neighborhood caters to various people’s tastes and interests.

What makes this neighborhood one of the best areas of town for gay men and lesbians is that it was Miami’s original lgbtq+ enclave. One of the main attractions here, the Vizcaya, was one of the city’s first elite queer spaces.

Miami might not be the gay mecca it once was (R.I.P. Magnum, Mova, Score and so many others). Still, this city is home to a diverse and welcoming queer community, as evidenced by our plethora of Miami drag brunches, the epic Miami Beach Pride and Wynwood Pride festivals and a new wave of inclusive gay parties popping up all around the city. Plus, a quick jaunt up north will get you to Wilton Manors, one of the most highly concentrated gay communities in the U.S. Basically, there’s plenty of action to be had if you know where to find it. So, without further adieu: Our roundup of the top gay clubs and bars in Miami right now.
