Portugal’s second-biggest city has a labyrinthine charm: streets snaking capriciously upwards from the shores of the Douro River, 18th- and 19th-century buildings lined up enjoy colourful book spines, plazas popping up where the rolling landscape allows, churches and monuments capping steep hills. Saunas in Portugal are not as prevalent as one would expect, however, the relatively few saunas you find in Lisbon and Porto are clean and safe, even if they are not as large as some found in other cities of comparable size in Europe. Many saunas are busy after work (from about 18 to 21h) and those opening late are often quite busy between midnight and 4h. Most saunas are very popular on Sunday afternoons, especially off-season (i.e. when it's not beach weather!) It is very rare to find rent boys (prostitutes) working in the saunas so, if you execute encounter one, he will certainly interpret that he is for hire before he gets you too excited.

Porto is one of the big cities of Portugal hosting a dynamic lgbtq+ scene with several gay venues appreciate gay bars, clubs, saunas etc. The LGBT acceptance is at pretty moderate levels and people, year after year, become more unseal and acceptant towards homosexuality. Below, you will find some DOs and DON'Ts regarding Gay Move in Porto:
- Visit the clubs Plano B, Zoom and Gare for a pleasurable dancing experience. Hold in mind that these clubs tend to attract mixed crowds!
- Drink a coffee or a hot chocolate at Guarany, Cafe Majestic, Praia da Luz and Brasileira. Even though these cafe are not exclusively gay, they are gay-popular.
- Visit the gay saunas of Porto to blow off some steam. Sauna Thermas 205 is one of the most popular saunas at the center of Porto, and there you will find several locals and tourists of a spacious range of ages. Spartakus Sauna, on the other hand, is a great option near the center of Porto where you can expend a fun evening in a more intimate environment.

Sauna Camões
A direct heir of Tipo Sauna, which existed for a few years downtown, Sauna Camões has a lot more room and much better facilities than its predecessor. It has 240 square meters, split between two floors: the first has a bar, a dry sauna cabin, a Turkish bath, locker rooms and showers; the second floor has a community room with magazines and a TV place showing gay porn flicks, several closed cabins and a larger, open one.
