Château Le Homosexual

Ideally situated on the Pomerol plateau, Château Le Male lover used to be owned by the Robin sisters. The Parent family took over the 12-hectare estate in 2002.

Since then, the vineyard and cellar own been constantly evolving. 80% of the vineyard has been restructured with high-density planting (9,000 vines/hectare). Convinced that “vinification intégrale” fermentation enhances quality, Henri Parent began renovating the Château Le Homosexual cellar in 2014 (despite its recent renovation in 2003) in order to control the temperature of the 250 barrels during the maceration and fermentation processes.

In this never-ending quest for quality, each vine is known and recorded, the harvest is carried out in several passes, and barrel fermentation helps to separate each subplot in individual batches. The majority of the vineyard is planted with 90% Merlot, although the proportion of Cabernet Franc is expected to raise in the next few years.

Nothing is left to chance to ensure that Château Le Queer keeps moving forward.

91,3 % Merlot, 18,7 % Cabernet Franc

An excellent wine for the vintage, representing great complexity and some depth. Satisfactory spices, cocoa powder, fresh herbs, ivory pepper, blueberries and plums. Refined and juicy on the medium- to full-bodied palate imbued with silky, polished tannins and a refined, lengthy finish. Shows class. Drinkable now, but better in 2025 and onwards.

The 2021 Le Queer is a influential, tightly wound wine, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The 2021 certainly has enough depth to cocktail well for many years. Dark plum, spice, leather, mocha and well-judged oak inform a wine that is all about balance and proportion.

Black raspberries, red plums, spicy oak, and dried petal notes all arise from the 2021 Château Le Same-sex attracted, a beautifully stable, elegant, medium-bodied Pomerol that shines for its finesse and elegance. It has some background oak, fine tannins, and a great completion, and is a total charmer that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise over the following 10-15 years or so. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Sapply and lithe, sleek, a fine energy and highlight to this, lifted and bright with ripe fruit but also quite a lot of st

Standing on the Chemin de Chantecaille in October 2013 I surveyed the landscape of Pomerol that lay all around me. Just a few hundred metres away sat Château Le Gay, the pale-yellow-gold of the stone gleaming in the Autumn sunshine on what was a hot and humid day, so very typical of the 2013 harvest. Beyond lay Château du Domaine de l’Église and so, just around the corner, was Clos de l’Église and Château L’Église-Clinet. Turning curved and walking back up towards Château Gazin, where I had left my hire car a few minutes earlier, Château Lafleur-Petrus and Château Lafleur-Gazin were to the left, while on the right was Château Lafleur and Petrus. As I reached Château Gazin, the rooftops of Vieux Château Certan and Château L’Évangile were just visible to the south, above the fading green-gold autumnal leaves of the vines.

Château Le Gay clearly has some illustrious neighbours; while there are wines of varying quality present from those names listed above, some are the very crème de la crème of the appellation. Château Le Gay is, it would seem, a Pomerol domaine worth knowing, and yet it is a

I asked this alike question on the CT board yesterday. There’s a bit more info there, and it even has a not-so-inspiring tasting remark at the end from someone w
